Meet the West University Place Team Behind Vance Gate Repair West University Place
When a gate stacks up in West University Place, the person who shows up matters as much as the parts on the truck. Our local crew has been knocking on doors in this neighborhood long enough to know that a sagging cantilever on Buffalo Speedway fails differently than one off University Boulevard, and that homeowner expectations don’t drop just because the gate is 20 years old. What unites the four of us is simple: we write down the price before we touch a bolt, we photograph what we find, and we stand behind the repair for a full year. No exceptions, no fine print.
Our People
Marcus T. – Lead Technician, Gate Repair
Marcus has spent eleven years working on gate operators, and the last six of them in West University Place. He holds factory training certifications from LiftMaster and FAAC, which means he can diagnose an electrical fault on a swing-arm motor without first reaching for a replacement part. His specialty is the stuff that other companies walk away from: intermittent operator failures, limit switches that trip only when it rains, safety edges that pass a bench test but fault on site. Marcus keeps a notebook in the truck with wiring diagrams from every job he’s touched, and if he can’t tell you exactly what he adjusted and why, he’ll say so and keep looking. He grew up in Houston and still complains about the humidity while kneeling in it. You’ll see him mostly on repair calls, but he’s the one training our apprentice on the bench between dispatch runs.
Elena R. – Senior Installer, Gates & Welding
Elena has built and hung gates since 2015, first in fabrication shops and now as our senior installer in West University Place. She’s a certified welder and handles the frame work, hinge setting, and mounting hardware on every gate installation we schedule. Her eye for reveal gaps is the reason our installs look level from the street even when the driveway isn’t. Elena works mostly with Mighty Mule, Viking, and Ghost Controls operator integrations, and she prefers to mount the motor after the gate hangs true, never the other way around. Before any concrete sets, she sends a photo of the post layout to the office, because according to her, “the only person who benefits from resetting a wrong post is the concrete supplier.” Not a big talker, but she’ll tell you if she thinks a repair is a better use of your money than a new gate. Off the clock, she restores old trucks, which explains a lot about her patience for seized hinge barrels.
Dana P. – Service Coordinator
Dana is the voice on the phone at any hour, because Vance Gate Repair West University Place has a live person answering 24/7. No voicemail, no call-back queue. Dana has been with us since 2019 and knows the schedule, the parts inventory, and which technician is closest to your street. Before a tech arrives, Dana sends the name and photo of who’s coming, a written price for the service call, and a heads-up on what to expect during the visit. She also manages the photo log documentation, making sure every completed job leaves the homeowner with a record of what was found, what was adjusted, and what part numbers went in. If you email a photo of a broken gate hinge on a Sunday night, Dana is the one who reads it and gets a truck moving Monday morning.
Jordan W. – Apprentice Technician
Jordan is the newest member of the crew and works alongside Marcus on repairs and Elena on installs, splitting time between the two benches. He came to us from a commercial access-control background, which means he already knows how a BFT control board should respond to a forced-open input and why a photo-eye that’s two inches out of alignment will trip the operator every time. Jordan handles the parts runs, the photo documentation, and the small but critical jobs like setting limit switches under direct supervision. He’s the one who double-checks that every bolt is torqued and every wire is zip-tied before we call a job done. And yes, he’s the only person on the crew who can still bend down to set a ground loop without making a sound.
One Standard, Every Job

We’re part of the Haven network, which runs ten home-service brands under one operating rule: written price before work starts. That’s Clause 1, and it’s not a slogan on a flyer. It’s a piece of paper handed to you before we open the truck. Every completed job carries the 365-Day Done Right Promise, which is exactly what it sounds like. If a repair isn’t right within a year, we come back and make it right at no additional charge. No argument, no fee, no expiration date inside that window. And under Clause 4, every visit leaves behind a documented photo record of what we found and what we did. That’s the same wiring-diagram habit Adrian Vance, Owner, developed on commercial access-control sites starting in 2014. We don’t treat residential gates differently. The price is agreed before work begins, so there’s no end-of-job invoice surprise. That’s the standard here, and it’s the one the whole West University Place crew works under.
